Niels van Dijk

Niels van Dijk is a Technical Product Manager in the Collaboration Infrastructure &
Services department at SURFnet. In this role he is responsible for technical
management and innovation of SURFnet collaboration services. As the project lead
of the OpenConext Collaboration platform his focus is on cross sector collaboration
by enabling federated identity management and attribute aggregation across
institutional and country borders. Niels was instrumental in launching the SURFconext platform, the OpenConext instance that is run by SURFnet.
In recent years, Niels was responsible for organising the VAMP meetings, which
bring together Federation Operators and eResearch communities, and acted as a
program committee member for the Terena Networking Conference. Niels is also
an active member of the REFEDs community.
In the Geant3+ Project Niels is a subtask lead for the Simple validation Service
activity in JRA3-T1 and works as a subtask lead for VOpaas activities in SA5
.
Before coming to SURFnet, Niels build some ten years of experience in designing
and developing innovative solutions in the field of internet based database and GIS
(Geographical Information Systems), mainly for the Utilities and Emergency
Response sector.
