Ciena (Canada)
Mr. Wilson is responsible for Ciena’s leadership and interactions with universities and the research community, including national research and education networks. Employed within Ciena's CTO Group, he also leads Ciena’s Technology Incubation Program which seeks to kick-start new development vectors for the company. He is a frequent contributor to research projects, demonstrations and discussions about advanced optical telecommunications systems.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Wilson was a senior advisor for the CTO at Nortel, and other held roles including director of Broadband Switching, and Optical Ethernet development.
Previous employers include Bell Canada, University of Toronto, Motorola, Bell Northern Research & others.
He was originally trained in Electrical Engineering at Ryerson University in Toronto Ontario, and is a graduate of the Executive Management School at Stanford University in Palo Alto California.
He has serves on a number of business and volunteer Boards. He was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his service to Canada.
