Askar Kutanov

Prof. Askar KUTANOV is the CEO of Central Asian Research and Education Network Cooperation Centre (CAREN*CC), and he actively promotes regional and global collaboration for the Central Asian NRENs. He is Academician of the National Academy of Sciences, Kyrgyz Republic. He has background in physics, and got Doctor of Technical Sciences degree in the field of Optical Information Processing in 1992. Askar Kutanov worked at Osaka University, Japan as research fellow and invited professor from 1993 to 1996. He worked as President-rector of the Academy of Management under the President of Kyrgyz Republic in 1997-2004 and under his leadership Kyrgyz Research and Education Network Association (KRENA) has been established in 2002. He got State award of the Kyrgyz Republic in the field of science and technology for research & education networking development in 2004. At present, Gigabit CAREN network bring many opportunities to Central Asians NRENs for growth and applications development in such areas as Astrophysics, Glaciers monitoring, Strong motions monitoring for seismic hazard and risk assessment, Telemedicine.
