This talk will provide a general review about Open Orchestration as a technique to combine NFV and SDN in a unified approach, termed as the Software Network by the 5G PPP, and about the possibilities it brings to dynamic network service definition and management. To exemplify this, the Open Source MANO (OSM, http://osm.etsi.org/) initiative and the SONATA project (http://sonata-nfv.eu) will be introduced, together with a discussion on how open-source and standards communities can collaborate to fulfil the promise of the Software Network.
